A native German, Damrau studied at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg and with Hanna Ludwig in Salzburg. I’ll be playing this famous dialogue/aria, “Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen” (Hells revenge boils in my heart) for my diction students as a model of incisive, exciting German diction. Dorothea Röschmann appears here as Pamina. http://youtu.be/UXOYcd6KZ0E
