Great Singing and Great German Diction – Diana Damrau

Diana Damrau made her Royal Opera debut singing the Queen of the Night in Mozart’sThe Magic Flute in 2003.  A native German, Damrau studied at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg and with Hanna Ludwig in Salzburg.

I’ll be playing this famous dialogue/aria, “Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen” (Hells revenge boils in my heart) for my diction students as a model of incisive, exciting German diction.   Dorothea Röschmann appears here as Pamina.
